Our digital dental x-ray equipment is modern and well-maintained. You only need digital dental x-rays periodically, for example, when we need to check your oral health or diagnose a specific problem like a tooth infection.
Panoramic x-rays take a single image capturing your upper and lower jaws. These x-rays are typically used to plan for Orthodontics, tooth extractions, dental implants, or dentures. They can also reveal problems like cysts or advanced periodontal disease.
Digital dental x-rays are extremely safe, emitting low levels of radiation. For example, you are exposed to up to 0.2 µSc radiation during a single tooth x-ray. During a panoramic x-ray, you may be exposed to up to 3.9 µSc. A flight from NY to LA would expose you to 10 µSc.
A cone beam CT scan is used to plan dental implant treatment and other procedures like wisdom tooth removal or oral surgery, as it provides clear 3-D images
